It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay awake when I’m awake Because my dreams are bursting at the seams Once again Kai was without Coraline, which was unusual. He didn’t know if this would become a new occurrence or what but he was starting to feel a tad naked without his twin sister by his side. He had his bag of cards slung over his left shoulder and which dangled from his right hip. He had a book in the bag, too, in case he got bored.Today he wore a white t-shirt with a picture of a black and white tiger and a grey hoodie and dark blue jeans. As usual, Long Island Sound was teeming with life, which Kai found annoying at times. He wished he could go somewhere quieter; somewhere there was little activity. That’d be good for Shuujuku, for training purposes. Shuujuku only had three members: himself, Coraline and most recently, Kitten.
The mute boy walked alongside a few cafés and small shops before stopping at one he’d never been to before. Some people went inside and he briefly heard a guitar playing, quite beautifully in all honesty, and smelt the delicious food. His stomach growled and he chuckled. His growling stomach won and he strode into the café. It was quite quaint – how come he hadn’t noticed it before? He must have passed it a dozen times and not been paying attention. He went to the counter and peered at the lovely muffins and cakes they had. He chose to eat carrot cake and drink hot chocolate. Once he had paid for his cake and hot chocolate he went to a nearby table. Kai noticed a blonde girl playing the guitar he had heard outside. She was pretty, he thought.
He took off his bag and got the book out: Game of Thrones. He loved it. He couldn’t wait to read the others; they were amazing.

The theater always got boring after a couple of days crammed inside, so Alexis made it her mission to get out as much as she felt comfortable with. She still wasn't really used to this world, and the many people within it. She had come to like one particular café in Long Island Sound - a little place that served hot drinks and cakes and snack foods.
She often took her guitar into the town to play outside, but since she had last been spotted outside the café and it was getting quite chilly, she had been invited inside. It was very kind of them; in return, she had decided to learn some of Earth's songs that she could play and sing. The ones she had grown up with just weren't really appropriate for people who came in for casual lunch - folk ballads and rhyming ditties.
There were a few that she especially liked. She had heard them on the radio she kept in her room in the theater, and had slowly taught herself the chords to play them properly.
"I've been asleep for a while now, You tucked me in just like a child, now, 'Cause every time you hold me in your arms, I'm comfortable enough to feel your warmth..."
She was completely at ease with the music and the sound of her own voice, her eyes closed, a tiny smile pulling at her lips as she followed the third verse up into the chorus. They had given her a nice spot to play in as well - a chair and table were set up for her by the window so that she had light. She rocked on the back legs of the chair, her feet up on the table, as relaxed as a person could be without lying down.
As she hit the last part of the chorus, her voice faltered. She felt someone enter. Well, perhaps felt was the wrong word. She opened her eyes, appraising the newcomer carefully, returning to her previous vocal stride. A boy, about her age. She hadn't seen him before, which was kind of odd. Maybe he didn't frequent this place like she did.
"Wherever, wherever, where-ever you go... Wherever, wherever, wherever you go... Wherever you go, I'll always know, 'Cause you make me smile here, just for a whi-ile..." [/center] She trailed off with the last chord, letting it fade naturally. A smattering of applause. Her cheeks pinked a little at the praise. Half of her focused on deciding a new song, whilst the other half continued to wonder why the boy seemed familiar.[/blockquote] lyrics to 'bubbly' copyright to colbie caillat

It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay awake when I’m awake Because my dreams are bursting at the seams Kai heard the girl singing and thought she was quite good at singing. A few of the other people in the café seemed to enjoy it, which was a good sign. He wondered why he hadn’t seen this girl before; like Kitten she seemed familiar. The mute boy wondered if she had powers too. Two or three people came up to her and said job well done. Kai sipped on the hot chocolate and read a bit of Game of Thrones. The series was amazing – he had watched the series and loved it so had subsequently bought the first two books.
He looked to the girl again. Why did she seem so familiar? He sipped some more on the hot chocolate and gazed at the other people in the café. Ever since Kai could remember, he had liked people watching; people fascinated the brunette. There were so many different types of personalities and different beliefs; it just interested him. People would argue over the silliest of things then make up again. People in general caused a lot of problems in the world; and then they had the nerve to destroy it further, not knowing that they were sealing their doom in the process. It was sad.
Kai let out a silent sigh and went back to reading Game of Thrones. He then saw something out of his periphial vision: the beginnings of a ribbon thread; electric blue in colour. He couldn’t be sure, though. Kai decided to let it be, for now. He wanted to talk to the girl but he didn’t want to seem too eager or anything. If she wanted to talk to him she would.
