Strengths:
+ Magic ~ Maleficent is one of the most powerful witches in her time. She has a fine grasp over all elements of sorcery, including spell casting, spell creation, rune making and use, alchemy and curses. She specialises in debilitating spells, but nothing else is really that difficult for her to do. Even healing comes easily to her, though she rarely uses it.
+ Manipulative ~ With her strong words and intimidation, Maleficent is not to be trifled with, and generally gets what she wants when she wants it. She is also fully capable of controlling an entire situation from the sidelines and nobody would think she was even involved. Maleficent has her fingers in many pies, so to speak, and her manipulation is second to almost none.
+ Dragon Form ~ If and when she wants to, Maleficent can shift into the form of an enormous black and purple dragon. In this form, she is roughly thirty feet long with a wingspan of sixty feet. Her wings give her flight, she has fangs to bite and crush with, claws to tear her enemies open with, and she can breath green fire. Her tail is also extremely flexible and barbed with several long spikes that can deliver a nasty wound if they make contact, and she is much stronger than in her human form. She looks like this.
+ Army ~ Maleficent has a personal army of several hundred, including people from all races. They are archers, cavalry and footsoldiers, as well as lancers and juggernauts. She compliments this number with several summoned undead creatures, mostly skeletons and zombies.
+ Intelligent ~ Strategic and naturally clever, Maleficent is not someone to be trifled with in matters of the mind. She is intellectual and greedy for knowledge, often spending hours poring over old tomes and texts to broaden her knowledge. She has a lot of common sense; her quick thinking has led her to escaping many situations in the past that could have turned very foul.
Weaknesses:
- Vain ~ Maleficent is incredibly vain, and believes herself to be the most beautiful and powerful witch in the world. She is both of these things, but not to the extent that she thinks she is, and shattering or manipulating this illusion is one way to get to her. In this aspect, she also tends to underestimate others, especially if they are not visually particularly impressive.
- Paranoid ~ Fearing attack from all angles, Maleficent is quite paranoid, and constantly spends some of her magical energy on protective spells and glamours to protect her body and castle. She trusts almost nobody at all, and is permanently wary of being betrayed.
- Grey ~ Maleficent has few physical weaknesses, and that is how she likes it; the one person she truly cares for with any shred of warmth is her son and her protégé. It’s uncertain whether she cares about him more or the time she has invested in him, but whatever the case, getting to Grey is a good way to get to Maleficent.
- Controlling ~ Maleficent does not like to lose control of herself, or events or anything at all. She constantly vies to have some sort of background information on everything that allows her to have the advantage in any situation, and if she cannot have this, she is edgy and perhaps even nervous.
Personality:
Maleficent is evil. That is the simplest way to describe her, but of course, there is much more to a person than a mere word, and she is no different.[/blockquote]
Cold and distant, Maleficent tends to keep to herself, and that’s how she likes it best. She is incredibly independent and very much a loner. She despises even the idea of relying on others, of people seeing her as weak and fragile and needing help. She hates perceived weaknesses in herself and in others. Emotion is included in this; to those around her, Maleficent will rarely come off as anything but supremely confident and self-assured. This is a calm façade; even if she is upset or furious, she will never intend to show these emotions to anybody, lest they find some way to take advantage of her in her vulnerable states.
Maleficent is as cruel as they come, and sees not issues with torture or murder if they get her where she wants to be. Other people are generally just seen as tools – a means to an end, and completely disposable. There are a few who are not included in this categorisation; Aella and the few other witches she respects, her son, Grey, and one or two others, but they are the exceptions rather than the rule. It is very hard for someone to get Maleficent to see them as a person rather than an object, and even harder to get her respect.
She is obsessed with magic and power and elevating herself above and beyond. Maleficent is one of those true villains whose goal is to conquer the world. She has no real need for money or attachments; the only thing that truly matters to her is being the best. She will spend hours and days at a time ruminating and studying alone, inventing new spells and curses, researching the ancient world. She likes history, and her castle is decorated with artefacts from thousands of years in the past, her library filled with dusty volumes with pages that would disintegrate as soon as one looked at them.
Maleficent appreciates courtesy in people, and those who are polite are generally favoured above those who are rude and brutish. She has no time for people who act like peasants, and would only waste a sneer on them, if anything. She likes to be respected or feared; either one is good for her. She finds it amusing when people stand up to her, but it doesn’t make her respect them anymore than she would the average person. She has nothing but contempt for those who are the epitome of good and purity, whose outlook on the world is idealism and friendship rather than realism and rationality.
She is vain and overconfident, but despises these qualities in others. Unlike many, Maleficent can back up her confidence with power, and will do so at the drop of a hat. She feels no need to prove herself to anybody, but enjoys intimidating and frightening others with an impressive feat or two. Interestingly, when Maleficent feels exposed emotionally, she will usually immediately shapeshift into a dragon, and will destroy the person who has made her feel that way.
Eyes: Pale blue
Hair: White-blonde
Physique:
At five feet and eight inches, Maleficent is relatively tall for a woman. She is built slender and willowy beneath her robes and clothing, and she weighs roughly one hundred and thirty two pounds. Her skin is pale, porcelain, and seems almost to shine with some unspoken magic. It is as if she is so magically energised, the stuff seeps out of her pores and makes her glitter.
She is extraordinarily beautiful, but also appears untouchable; that cruel glint in her eyes is not just imagination, and even when she is right in front of you, she seems to be distant, as though she were on a pedestal rather than on your level. Her face is angular and delicate, and her blue eyes are almost cat like in their intensity and shape. Her blonde hair is very long, but she usually ties it up in a braid around her crown or leaves it loose around her shoulders and back.
Maleficent garbs herself in only the finest, and her dark clothing usually consists of a long robe or cloak. This finery is woven by the wood elves, whose crafting is second to none, and each fibre holds some ounce of her magic. Her clothing cannot be worn by anybody else, and if they even think to drape it over themselves, it burns their skin severely. She occasionally wears a white-gold crown, where each of the ridges are twisted to resemble roses and thorns.

History:
Maleficent’s exact origins are unknown. Nobody knows who her parents were, or where she came from. She just appeared in the Eighth Kingdom one day, acting as if she had been there the whole time. She quickly established a rapport there, powerful as she was, finding followers amongst the thieves and murderers of the kingdom. Her castle was deep within one of the forests of the Eighth Kingdom, and as one approached, the trees became twisted, and mist lay upon the ground. Wolves and ravens flocked to the area, giving it an overall sense of foreboding.
Of course, despite her reputation for being an evil sorceress, Maleficent considered herself known enough to be respected within the kingdom. She was surprised when the King and Queen did not invite her to the presentation of their new princess – and furious when she discovered that almost everyone else of note had been invited along to gawp and gaze at the child. She couldn’t stand it; the day of the party, Maleficent teleported herself to the castle. After the three good fairies had given Aurora their gifts of happiness, beauty and love, Maleficent promptly cursed the girl to die on her eighteenth birthday.
Perhaps this was overkill, considering that the offense was that she didn’t get invited to a party, but she didn’t care. If she was to be respected in the kingdom, she was willing to kill some very important people. The King and Queen had to know that she was serious – and what was a better way than to put a death sentence on their pride and joy?
Maleficent continued in her evil ways for the next eighteen years. For the most part, she ignored the royalty of the kingdom, involving herself in her own research into dark magic, but she always made sure to keep an eye on the young princess.
She was mildly amused when the king had all of the spinning wheels in the country destroyed in an effort to evade her curse, and a little angry when Aurora seemed to disappear off the face of the kingdom just after the curse had been put on her. Nothing really happened for seventeen and a half years, until one day, her raven scout returned with word of Aurora’s existence. It seemed that she had been hidden in the fairies forest for her entire life under the name Briar Rose, in the hopes that Maleficent wouldn’t be able to find her.
Maleficent used her magic to hide within the royal castle, and it was to her delight that just a few weeks later, Aurora returned on her eighteenth birthday. Her parents thought that she was in the clear – eighteen years had passed, and Aurora hadn’t pricked her finger on a spinning wheel and died. Whilst in the castle, Maleficent lured the princess up the stairs to one of the tallest towers, putting her in a trance so that she would obey the sorceress’ ever word. There in the tower room, she had placed a spinning wheel, and she encouraged Aurora to touch it.
Of course the girl did, and she fell into a deep sleep. As her three fairy godmothers came to investigate and found the comatose princess, Maleficent hid. The fairies put the kingdom to sleep, holding the curse off until they could find a way to restore Aurora to her previous state. They took her betrothed, Phillip, away from the castle, and in their absence, Maleficent worked her magic. Brambles and thorns sprung up around the castle, and the stone began to erode away. She made it so that purple and black clouds permanently circled the tower where Aurora slept, and guarded the place herself.
It wasn’t long before Phillip came to free the princess, and a huge battle took place. Maleficent transformed into a great dragon in an attempt to destroy him, but she slipped up, and he was able to get the advantage and destroy her.
Not for good, however. By the time Maleficent awakened once more, the rest of the kingdom had been awakened, along with Aurora. She fled the kingdom, weakened by her defeat, and went to the Third Kingdom.
Here, she reformed herself, regaining her strength. She created several children out of want for a minion she could shape herself, but all of them were considered failures except one; Grey, a boy she raised as her own, accelerating his growth in the span of five years so that he went from a tiny foetus to an almost grown boy. She nurtured his magical power and encouraged him in his endeavours. She poisoned him against the Eighth Kingdom – the one that had turned on her so badly.
In time, she met Morgana le Faye, who was scheming to take over the Third Kingdom. Thinking that this would be a way back into the Eighth (which she now wished to overthrow), Maleficent conspired with her. They were soon joined by Aella the witch, whose intelligence and strength complimented that of the other two, and with her aid, they were able to enlist the other ‘evil’ legends and take down Old King Cole. After the take over, Maleficent agreed to let Morgana rule, but only after making her swear her support to Maleficent’s goal to take over the Eighth.
Since then, Maleficent has returned to her castle in the Third Kingdom. She researches and gathers her resources, building her own army and increasing her own considerable power. She is not quite ready yet to storm the Eighth Kingdom – but one day she will be.
