Likes:
- Video Games!!! - Even though Valoria has never had a lot of spare time, she normally sacrifices much needed sleep to play video games. In fact, she named her cat, Jacobin, after a religion in Sims Medieval. But she doesn't just play games like Sims, she also likes Resident Evil and she even owns all of the Elder Scrolls and has the old technology to play them all too. MMORPGs are like... the best thing that man has created next to the internet and computers.
- Sweets - Valoria would never be caught dead without some kind of sweet inside of her pockets or purse. Her diet normally consists of chocolates and hard candies. It's not that she dislikes salads and protein shakes... okay... well... she hates protein shakes 'cause their flavors are lies... anyways. She likes healthy stuff... she'd rather just eat a slice of cake with cream soda and suck on a lollipop afterwards. But she does force herself to have one real meal a day. No one can actually live off of candy. It's impossible. If it were possible, Valoria would be doing it.
- Running - You'd think that, because of all the sweets that Valoria eats, she'd constantly be crashing or getting fat? Nope. Never. Valoria works off all of those extra quick sugars by running at least five miles every day. She gets really antsy and impatient if she doesn't run. She also loves to be outside and she hates it if she has to run on a treadmill. She'd rather not run at all, but at least be outside.
- Techno Music - A great way to keep pace while running is techno music! Valoria discovered that a few years ago and her ipod is filled with the stuff. She's also really into dubstep and she's a huge fan of artists like Skrillex and Deadmau5.
- Anime - Alright, alright, alright. So Valoria is only like.... the biggest nerd alive? What were you expecting? Knitting or cats like that I Really Like Cats Song? Psh... well... okay... maybe she does kindasortalikeknittingandcats-coughsloudly- but that's not the point 'cause she likes anime and manga more! Yes, she does go to cons when she finds the spare time. She likes everything from OHSHC to Trigun to even Naruto. She's pretty accepting of other people's tastes but mess with her OTP and she'll make your ears regret it for weeks.
Dislikes:
- Death - Valoria has a very John Locke point of view about life. She believes that no being, be they human or not, has a right ot kill other creatures. She stands by this belief very much and seeing anything resembling death upsets her very quickly. She will never wear anything that has a skull or bones on it. She's even a vegetarian when she eats her real meal because she just can't stand the thought of that poor dead cow that was made into a hamburger.
- Hearing Aids - Now that Valoria has to wear a hearing aid, she gets easily frustrated by a lot of things. She hates it when people speak quietly so she has to turn up her volume or when she's in a loud crowd so that her ears start hurting. She does her best to keep her need to wear them a secret because it's both embarrassing and it brings back bad memories.
- Dark Rooms/Caves - Her childhood definitely scarred her about dark places. She knows it's considered childish, but she can't stand dark, enclosed spaces. She has to have the curtains open when she goes to sleep or the light in the hallway on or something so that she can see the shadows in her room or else she becomes terrified of the things that aren't there. It reminds her too much of the dark room that her mother used to lock her inside of as punishment.
- Watching punishment - As a cashier at Starbucks, she sometimes gets stuck accidentally seeing a parent scolding a child for being too grumpy or begging for this or that and it makes the child cry. This brings back painful memories once again.
- The Nightmares/Her memories in general - She sometimes wishes she could just forget that she killed those people or how she was raised, but she knows that it's a part of who she is, no matter how painful... Still... it would be nice to not have to lay awake at night, wondering if the nightmares would revisit her that night too.
Strengths:
- Taekwondo - Her father was a Taekwondo instructor and she learned a lot from him. She does her best to meditate each morning and tries to keep a clear mind when she can. The martial arts training has proven to be quite helpful in some cases and she's sure it'll come in handy in the future.
- Magic (Mental Focus) - Valoria has discovered that she's naturally good at casting spells that are centered around the mind such as conjuring illusions.
- Good Nature - Even though Valoria's been through a lot, she does her best not to let it get her down. Yeah, she complains occasionally, but she doesn't like making the people around her worry about her or make herself seem weak. She'd much rather be there for a friend that have a friend put up with her issues too.
Weaknesses:
- Claustrophobia - Valoria cannot stand tight spaces at all. the worst is when they're dark. If kept in there for too long, she'll start having panic attacks and eventually pass out best case scenario. No air duct crawling for her.
- Death - She cannot stand anything about death. Just talking or hearing about it sets her off. It's a very touchy subject for her and it's a guaranteed way to get a reaction from her.
- Her family - Even though they're adoptive, Valoria adores her parents above most anything else in the world. If someone were to threaten her parents, she'd get crazy mad and if they actually harmed her parents... I honestly don't know how stable she'd be afterwards, but it'd be a scary sight.
Personality:
Valoria's a pretty awesome person to be around the majority of the time. She's chattery, has a sense of humor, likes making new friends, and is really accepting of just about everything and everyone. She's one of those people who doesn't care if you just need a shoulder to cry on or someone to hold your hand for a little while, she'll happily give you her time. She's that random person who buys Valentine's Day cards for everyone and gives them cute little lollipops. She'll debate about just about every show and movie and, yes, she'll even go for Star Wars if need be(though she does prefer Space Balls). She isn't angered easily and loves to just goof off with friends.
But there's a bit of a deeper, darker side to Valoria that she doesn't let out very often. She doesn't like to make people worry about her. There's a part of her that's terrified of what is outside of the human world. Using magic especially scares her because she's terrified that she might hurt someone else. Because of the fact that she accidentally killed innocent people, she hates the thought of death. It upsets her very quickly, but she does her absolute best to hide it and will often leave the room if the subject is brought up. She used to have really bad nightmares about killing people, but things have gotten a bit better recently. Despite that, she still gets the occasional nightmare and she often confesses her worries to her cat, Jacobin, who swore to her that he wouldn't tell anyone. Ever.
Eyes:
Valoria's eyes are a golden brown color that shine super bright in light environments. She sometimes even wears fake glasses because she flipping can.
Hair:
Her hair is a gorgeous black color. It falls down to the center of her back in perfectly straight strands of hair but she tends to put it into a braid or a ponytail when she doesn't have it down.
Physique:The best way to describe Valoria would be tiny! She's an itty bitty person. She's about 5' 2" and she weighs a little over a hundred and ten pounds. She hasn't got much of a bust and, if it weren't for her feminine face and long hair, it would be possible to mistake her for a boy. She wishes she were bigger sometimes because she's had some people mistake her for a fifteen year old sometimes. Her skin is dotted in occasional scars from where she scratched herself during her nightmares but she makes sure to always wear her hair or clothing in a way that she can hide them. She does pack a bit of muscle . Most of it is located in her legs though because of the amount she runs. She's also relatively tan because of all of the time she spends outside.
Valoria normally wears skinny jeans if she's not wearing some kind of dress. Most of her clothing is either pretty tight on her like tight fitting tank tops or baggie like oversize t-shirts and sweat shirts. Most of her wardrobe is either black or red, but she does have a few splashes of neon colors in there too. She occasionally wears goofy things like ties or glasses and the such because she thinks that they look cute. She can't stand to wear high heels. In fact, she can barely stand to wear shoes at all. She likes comfy running shoes or flip flops or just walking around barefoot. But she does hate the feeling of hot tar beneath her feet so she normally just goes barefoot when she's indoors.

History: For starters, Valoria has no clue about how she came to be. She just knows that her mother isn't her mother. Her parents never did have much of a stable relationship throughout her life. In fact, there were often nights where she'd lay in bed all night, listening through her thin bedroom walls as her mother pitched a fit over this and that. Valoria was never referred to as our daughter in these fights, but as his daughter. She knew why though. He was the one who decided to take in Valoria. She had foggy memories of a woman growing up. She never dared refer to her as mommy. Mommy had never even been a word she'd heard of until she was banished to the human world.
Her mother was Karalieva, a witch who decided that she wanted a child to teach all of her dark magic. So, she used her own DNA and magic to create Valoria. But something messed up in Valoria. She was born as a baby instead of a teenager, as Karalieva had wanted. She had no stomach to raise a baby. So Valoria was left in the care of her servants for most of her childhood. She was given a dusty old room that was horribly dark and only had one window. She couldn't even look out of it till the age of five, where she was just barely tall enough to see it by standing up on her tippy-toes and she discovered that there was a world outside of Karalieva's rantings and ravings about everything and nothing. By that time, Karalieva had decided to start trying to train Valoria. The witch had no patience with the five year old, who only wanted to play around in the world outside those walls. Whenever Karalieva heard her talk about the world outside, she'd be locked into a room without any window and without any food for an entire day. Those times always scared her the most 'cause she'd see scary things coming for her, but they never touched her. They just terrified her. She'd always coming out crying and apologize to Karalieva but the apologies fell upon deaf ears.
At such a young age, all Valoria was capable of doing was summon minor illusions, much to Karalieva's dismay. She wanted a weapon, not some weak conjurer. It didn't help that Valoria's obsession with the outside world would show in her illusions. Karalieva's patience broke when Valoria created the illusion of a bird flying about. It was a gorgeous blue and Valoria loved it, but it reminded Karalieva of Snow White too much and she dragged Valoria out by her hair. She was shoved into the arms of a servant and the servant was ordered to take the now seven year old girl to the human world and leave her there. Karalieva wanted nothing to do with such a failure. Valoria was nothing but yet another dark stain on her pride. Karalieva opened a portal to a dark alley of New York City. It was 2 am, human world time and the servant left her there, sure that the humans would fall upon the weak prey easily like beasts in the woods. However, Valoria was incredibly happy to finally be outside as soon as she let go, she ran off as fast as her little legs could take her. She didn't want to be caught again by Karalieva. She didn't want to have to sit inside of that dark room again. She was perfectly happy where she was. But she soon grew tired and collapsed underneath a doorway. By chance, the first people who spotted Valoria were the Royos. They'd been wanting a child for a while but had had no luck, so they took the child in as their own.
Valoria's new father was a Taekwondo teacher and her mother was a freelance journalist. Sure, those weren't high paying jobs but her grandfather had once owned a jewelry store and did well in the stock market. He managed to save enough money so that the Royos lived comfortably off of the money as long as they made sure to budget because they were saving most of it so that they could send Valoria off to college.
Valoria was a pretty good student. She made straight A's until she started taking some honors and AP courses in highschool but, even then, her grades never got lower than a B. However, the fact that she often stayed up into the ungodly hours of the night playing her video games didn't much help with her studies. Sure, in hindsight, it probably wasn't the wisest thing to do with the need to keep her GPA up well but how can someone resist the realm of the internet? It called her name so loudly that she'd often wake up at 3 am to its calls and she'd have to get on the computer.
In order to stay up during school hours, Valoria turned to candy and sweets instead of energy drinks 'cause everyone knows that energy drinks are absolutely horrible for you and she hated the taste of coffee. Of course, once she started, she could never stop. She fell in love with Jolly Ranchers all over again and her dentist doesn't know what to do with her other than keep warning her. She makes sure to take care of her teeth as best she can though 'cause no one wants to lose teeth to sugary goodness.
Anyways, as soon as her parents found out about her bad computer habits, they decided that it would be best to find psychiatric help. Instead of the doctors saying that she had an addiction though, the decided that she had insomnia and was just passing the time by playing those computer games. Regardless, there were restrictions put on her gamage and her father decided that it was time that she got out of her house more.
At the age of fifteen, Valoria took (was forced to take) her first Taekwondo class. She hated it at first, but after the first week of aching muscles and exhaustion, Valoria realized that she loved it. She no longer saw Taekwondo as a punishment and eagerly learned and mastered new techniques. With the way that Valoria sped through the ranks, some people thought that she was just being given brownie points because she was the daughter of her father... and then they faced her in a brawl and learned otherwise. She also rediscovered her love of running and started to run outside weekly, then daily.
Taekwondo helped her in more ways that just getting rid of her game addiction. She actually began to meditate in the mornings with her father. It took a while, but Valoria discovered something deep within her during these meditation sessions. One day, when her father wasn't around, she decided to look into it more and, then next thing she knew, she was surrounded by a purplish aura. This was the first sign she'd received of her forgotten powers. Sure, at first, she was freaked. I mean, who wouldn't be?! But she began to do research on the subject and decided to see if there was something more to this new power she'd discovered. Sure enough, she realized that she could do a lot more than just create an aura. She actually ended up breaking off the wall of her bedroom because of her experimentation and she decided that she had to quit... and then she decided she wasn't going to quit because she liked magic too much and instead focused on not so destructive spells. Of course, her parents weren't let in on her practicing... and it was super hard to convince them that the wall had been messed up this entire time and it was a miracle she'd survived 'cause all she'd done was lean against it and it popped right off. In hindsight, it was the worst excuse she'd ever come up with but her parents had always known her to be strange and decided not to involve themselves much in it this time around.
Valoria discovered that the spells that came easiest to her were always the ones that weren't physical but mental. Things such as scrying, communing with animals, and conjuring illusions were incredibly simple for her. It was like breathing air. She also found that singing became easier for her. She didn't know why, but all of a sudden she could hit notes she'd never dreamed of doing before. Her parents actually liked it when she sang in the shower.
Anyways, Valoria's life really took a nose dive when she got mugged one day. Of course, an nineteen year-old girl walking alone at night in the streets of New York City was a pretty dumb thing to be doing. She still remembers that night vividly... not because she was injured or anything like that. In fact, none of her money was taken at all. The first thing that happened was that she got an unbidden vision of the next thirty seconds in the future. Of course, she didn't know that it was the next thirty seconds of her future. For all she knew, it was possible that it'd happen two years into the future. And all she had seen was a knife flash. That wasn't too scary. She knew how to take down guys with knives. So she kept moving, though she was a bit more alert than usual. Sure enough, a man pulled a knife when she walked by and tried to get up behind her, but she elbowed him in the jaw and he was knocked back. By then, her vision time had expired and she didn't know what was going to happen next. The last thing she was expecting was three more guys to come out of the shadows. Distressed and trapped, Valoria decided that the best thing to do in this situation was scream... and scream she did. But her powers some how got mixed into the scream and it turned into the equivalent of a banshee scream. Her attackers were a bloody, unidentifiable mess afterwards. The buildings in her line of fire looked like a sizable earthquake had brought them to the ground. There were at least 40 casualties that night.
Valoria freaked out and tried to head home, but she found that she could barely stand on her own two feet... or hear anything for that matter. She touched her ears and realized they were bleeding. Regardless, she managed to stumble her way home. Her parents freaked out at the sight of her and took her to the hospital. The doctors told her that her hearing could be repaired for the most part, but she'd have to wear a hearing aid for the rest of her life. Security cameras would later identify her as the source of the 'untraceable killer earthquake' and government officials tracked her down. They didn't really know what to do with her. After a court case, in which she argued self defense, she was let go under the condition that she move to a much much smaller city called Bridgeport, Connecticut. She agreed.
Her parents tried to move with her, but she pleaded with them to stay. The last thing she wanted to do was possibly harm her parents. So, after her long goodbyes, she moved away with Jacobin to Bridgeport. The first few weeks were rough. She managed to find herself a small house but she kept on having horrible nightmares. She'd wake up to find that she'd scratched herself raw throughout the night. She tried sleeping pills, but they did nothing to stop the dreams. Valoria decided that the best way out was to just not sleep. Of course, this didn't work either because she'd sometimes end up passing passing out on the streets.
It was on one of these unfortunate passing out events that she first met the leader of the Shuujuku, Kai Starshine. She'd collapsed while running through a nearby park and managed to make her way to a park bench, convinced that she'd simply pushed herself too hard until she passed out on the bench. Next thing she knew, she was waking up to a(n admittedly attractive) blonde guy. She nearly had a heart attack and tried to get away from him. It was much too like when she'd been locked in Karalieva's dark rooms. Night had fallen, so she couldn't see very well and she knew it was dark. Her eyes still weren't adjusted from waking up and she just knew that she could see a figure near her. That alone was enough to make her run away, not to mention that he wasn't talking talking but he was talking to her in her mind. She believed the term for it was telepathy. However, the blonde guy was quick to calm her down. She's still not sure how he managed to do it so easily, but she just got the vibe that she could trust this guy. Once she agreed to listen to what he had so say, he told her about this organization called The Shuujuku. It was for people like her. People with these weird powers. She kind of wondered if it was a government run kinda thing but then decided against it. She didn't get the weird kind of feeling she sometimes got when people were lying to her. This dude was the real thing. She didn't want to hurt anyone else and she figured that if she was in the group, she could learn how to not kill people. So she agreed.
After that, life was a bit easier for her. She dropped her dreams of going to college. She just got the feeling that it would be bad for her. Her parents suddenly sent her the money from her grandfather's investments, much to her dismay, but they refused to take it back. Either way, Valoria swore not to use it unless there was an emergency so she got a job at Starbucks as a cashier. Sleeping became easier for her too because the nightmares began to settle down, but she'd still wake up screaming every now and then. Before she knew it, a few months had passed and she'd even managed to get herself a twentieth birthday party. Life felt like it was actually pretty normal... for a girl who was part witch.
