And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Lily smiled as she made her way to the family’s stables; it had been a long time since she had last ridden her favorite mare Midnight. Her father had given her Midnight, when she was still a foal for her birthday years ago. Once inside the stable Lily petted her black mare, while she waited for one of the stable boys to come assist her. Finally a young man in his teens walked over to her and asked. “May I help you, my Lady?” [/b] Lily continued to pet Midnight, before replying. “I would like to take a ride on Midnight if it is possible.” She then pulled a carrot out of her pocket and began to feed it to her mare. “As you wish, my Lady.” The stable boy said as he waited for Lily to finished feeding Midnight. Once the mare was done eating, Lily watched as the boy fitted Midnight with her bridle and sidesaddle. As much as Lily loved riding, she wished her father didn’t make she and her sisters ride sidesaddle. She knew if her father would actually let her ride astride and wear pants. She would actually be allowed to gallop and jump fences like men. However, that wasn’t proper for Lady to do that in her father’s eye, especially for one of her status. She had heard about woman in other Kingdoms that were actually allowed to ride astride, but she knew it wouldn’t ever become popular in the First Kingdom. Where modestly for women was everything, Once the final strap Midnight’s side saddle was in place and Lily was lifted onto her mare. The girl allowed the stable boy to lead her out of the stable and into the fields her father owned. Once outside Lily got Midnight into trot and began to ride along the fields by herself. This is one of the reasons Lily loved riding so much, her sisters actually let her go by herself. As long as she stayed on the paths on the lands her father owned. She had to admit it was a bit stifling to ride the same paths over and over again. It seemed nothing ever changed when she rode Midnight. Lily wished one of these days something would happen. I'll get better as we go into the thread more. LIGHT [/style] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #6d6d6d;] [style=padding: 10px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px; height: 475px; overflow: auto; color: #1e1e1e;]Rose gave her horse a slight touch to urge her on a little quicker. She was glad that White had allowed her to take a break from caring for their mother. She needed a little time to explore the kingdoms once in a while. "Come, Pearl, let's see if you still have your spirit,"she whispered into the mare's ear. This caused the mare's ear to prick up in interest. She bolted. Rose leaned down and held tight to the reins. She allowed the horse to continue galloping. She pulled on the reins to signal Pearl to slow down.
They were now on top of a hill. The First Kingdom truly was beautiful. She slipped down from her horse and picked a flower from the ground. It was a lily. As she stood up, a breeze blew by. Rose let the lily fly along with it. The wind rustled up her red hair. She brushed it back and continued to climb back on Pearl. She sat sidesaddle this time. She had forgotten that. No wonder, the women in one of the towns that she passed had given her odd looks. It wasn't modest for a young lady to ride like a man in the First Kingdom. Most of the kingdoms allowed the girls to ride astride. Rose's homeland, the Ninth Kingdom allowed the women to ride astride since it gave them more freedom which their queen encouraged. Rose dug into her pocket and pulled out an apple that she kept for Pearl. "Here you go. You must be tired from all of that running," she said, patting her horse. She watched as Pearl ate the apple out of her hand.
She could remember the day that her father gave her Pearl as a present. It had been her birthday. White had gotten one two years before since she was older. Rose had wanted one ever since White had gotten one. Her father knew she wanted one so on her seventh birthday he bought her one. But it wasn't too long before he was killed in battle. Rose brushed a tear away and felt an emptiness in her hand. Pearl had finished eating. Rose urged her into a gallop. She let the time fly. Rose caught sight of a figure that seemed to become bigger as it got closer. She slowed Pearl down. It showed to be a girl close to Rose's own age. "Who are you?" she asked the girl when she got closer. [/style] |
