It was around lunch when she walked out to the stables. She chose to wore for this advance a white blouse and pants. With her husband being so busy lately, she had to do more work with making sure the people of the kingdom were alright. That wasn't to big of a deal since Odette would visit the towns people a lot to begin with. Soon she made it to her favorite horse and patted her on the neck.
The one person that really wanted to see her on this shining day was Prince Eric. Why he wanted to speak to her wasn't fully clear but she wasn't going to turn down the invite. The letter that the Prince wrote told her to meet her in around the castle ground. If she could recall it would be by swan lake. Which wouldn't be a problem, since it was a nice day for riding her horse. Taking in a deep breath of all the smells of the stables and the rest of the outdoors, Odette would get her horse ready for the ride.
Odette misses Siegfried being around as often as he used to. There was just a lot of work that needed to be done and Siegfried wanted to do it all. Of course she wasn't going to argue with him, she didn't have the heart to do that. At least she would hope to see him at dinner tonight, that would brighten her day a little more. After a few more moments she was done saddling the horse and brushing her down. Now with all that set up, she climbed onto the horse and slowly started to work her way to the front gates.

It had been far too long since Prince Eric spoke with the rulers of the land in the 7th Kingdom. As any royal knew, 90% of diplomacy was done over casual conversation. He sent a letter to Queen Odette telling her he would meet her at her own castle grounds, wanting to ensure she was as comfortable as possible. She was, after all, his sovereign, too.
As he saw her approach, he smiled politely. He was half hoping the King would be there too, knowing that the two could bond over typically manly things like hunting or something of the sort. Fishing was categorically out of the question, though. Though he was a Prince, Eric only ruled over a very small portion of the 7th Kingdom, but within the walls of his territory, the King and Queen had no more authority. But they had proven themselves to be generous and kind rulers, so there hadn't been any disputes and he wanted it to stay that way. "Good afternoon, Queen Odette," Eric called once she was in earshot. When she was closer still, he bowed slightly, showing respect and positioned himself in a manner to show he was ready to help her off her horse. "Thank you so much for agreeing to meet with me. I'm sad to see the King couldn't make it."

After a few minutes she was able to see Prince Eric. He looked well and that was nice thing to see. It wasn't that often that she was able to see the young man, since he stayed in his castle most of the time. At least that was her understanding, there was really little that she knew about Eric. Though Odette was very sure that he was a good man. With a smile she would node at Eric as she rode closer to him. When he bowed, she bowed her head to show the same kind for respect. Her smile would grow when he showed that he was willing to help her down from her horse.
Taking his hand, she was gracefully glide off the horse. Now on the ground she brushed off the wrinkles in her cloths. "Good afternoon as well Prince Eric and I'm sorry," She would say with a frown. "He's busy, but he wished that he could come." It was always the same thing, him being so busy now. Tho there was no way that she could complain, it just wasn't in her. Sig was working so hard to keep the towns people safe. He had at least told her before she went off to meet here to report whatever was talked about.
"So, how are things with you Eric. Any problems?" Odette would ask with a soft smile.

The Queen jumped straight into conversation. "Things are great. My wife, Ariel, sends her greetings to both you and the King, as does King Triton." Eric's role in diplomacy between the two kingdoms of the 7th Kingdom was pivotal. For so long the Atlanticans lived in fear and hatred of the humans that they often relied on him as a go-between. He wasn't particularly thrilled at being the default ambassador, but the peace that reigned was enough to make it worth it.
"King Triton is, however, worried about how the potential war brewing with the Third Kingdom could affect Atlantica. Pirates often use times of unrest to make their presence known. Wars being fought at sea puts Atltantica in danger. I need to know how we should address the situation," Eric said. Magic was the first decision, but he doubted that even the Fairy Godmother herself would be able to help them with this, and the only other source of magic he could think of... well... Eric shuddered to even think of getting him involved. Odette and Siegfried's cooperation in the matter was the only way he could progress.

Odette nodded at first. "I'm glad, you can tell them me and my husband send them our greetings as well." Soon after that she would listen to the rest of what Eric said carefully. It was moments like this that it would be nice for Sig to be her with her. Fighting was something that she wanted to try and avoid at all times. However during these times it was hard to do that. Eric was right, the third kingdom was a worry. She would have liked for things to be different for that kingdom but there wasn't that much to be done. The thought would make her shiver and made her push that thought aside for now.
What Eric was asking was something to take pretty seriously and with out much magic to fall back on....they had to think outside the box. She thought about all the things that were happening in the ships yards right now and what could be added for protection. "Are there any patrols that King Triton has put into place? With our combined forces on land and sea, we ought to be able to keep a look out for anything."

Eric shook his head. "The Merpeople aren't well equipped to fight with surface-dwellers. And I don't know that Triton can handle it all on his own. I've seen the Trident's magic... it's very powerful, but there may be limits to it."
He gave a sigh and began pacing. "The Fairy Godmother has bigger fish to fry at this point and I'm not sure that it would be wise to ask Rumplestiltskin. And even if it were, he hates any of us with crowns. Who says he'd help us anyway? While Princess Ariel and I can become mermaids and retreat to the ocean, the rest of my kingdom cannot and I can't abandon them, and my kingdom isn't militarized, as part of the treaty my ancestors signed years and years ago. I'm truly at a loss, Odette."
Eric was usually so calm and collected. But as he finally verbalized the fear that his Kingdom was in danger, he looked visibly unnerved. He'd only ever show it to fellow royals. His people expected him to always know what to do and guide them through situations like this. King Triton didn't understand how human warfare worked, so he couldn't ask for his father-in-law's advice.

Odette would sigh. "The best thing that can be done is to have men on land and sea be on the look out. A war hasn't broken out Eric, not yet." She wasn't good at this, talking about what to do before a impending war. Nothing about this settled right with her, and she wished that the war would never come. However it seemed like that choice was out of her hands. All that she could do was help out the best that she could with what she knew. It was her job to help Sig defend the people of their kingdom. Odette would watch and listen to all of what Eric and frowned.
"Siegfried and I look over the land mostly, you know that. The best thing that comes to mind is sending some of our men to sail near the coast line and watch the docks for any signs. If things come down to it, Siegfried will send some of our men to help you."

The assurance that Odette and Siegfried would help him protect his kingdom took a huge weight off his shoulders. He stopped pacing and gave a traditional 7th Kingdom gesture of fealty. "Thank you so much Queen Odette," he said. "With your permission, I'd like to suspend the Treaty that prevents the militarization of my kingdom. If you could spare a few higher-ranked generals, I could have them teach and train some of my men. Mine is a great sea-faring kingdom. We can greatly add to your navy. Of course, Ariel and I can use some funds from our treasury to assist in any of the costs. It should not be only yours to bear."
He hated that old treaty and it was a slight blow to his ego to have to request such permission from Odette and Siegfried. Their kingdoms were supposed to operate nearly separate from one another, but they didn't always. He was glad he could rely on them as allies in times like these, but it irked him that he couldn't make decisions in the best interests of his kingdom without going through them first.

Odette would smile when he saw how much Eric seemed to relax. The requests that he was asking for weren't hard ones at all to agree to. It was had to think that these three ruling families in the 7th kingdom weren't really supposed to work together. That was pretty silly thing to have, seeing how they are all traded with each other and aided one an other. The treaty that Eric wanted to be removed was something that she never liked. Sig doesn't either but there have been more important matters at hand then removing the treaty. With a small node after listening to everything that Eric, she'd speak. "Sure Eric, all of that will work out just fine. I'll talk it over with my husband and see who we can send over to you to help out."
"Are there any other problems in the kingdom? Have there been any sightings of people up to no good yet?" It was a chilling thought to think that there could be people like that hiding in the forests of the kingdom. She was already asking Sig to teach her how to fight somewhat. Even though she really didn't want to, since fighting isn't in her, it was better for her to be able to defend herself.

Eric thought for a moment, but he couldn't think of anything. "Aside from Rumplestiltskin making the odd appearance in my kingdom, crime is actually at an all-time low in my land. Not so much as a bread thief. It's hard to imagine, considering everything that's brewing in the 3rd Kingdom. We're far-removed, but the world is becoming an odd place, milady. People are going to flee the 3rd Kingdom and they're going to eventually find themselves here. I just hope that they don't bring with them an end to our way of life. The 7th Kingdom has always been so peaceful..."
Eric loved his kingdom, he loved his people, and he loved the way of life they all enjoyed. Even those considered 'poor' in his Kingdom earned an honest, liveable wage. But if there were to be an influx of people from other kingdoms, that would cease to be true. The economy would not be able to take it, even with the job openings created by the people joining the fledgling military.

She would node at what Eric would say and would be glad at the news. There wasn't any word that crime or anything was happening in her part of the seventh kingdom. It was good to hear that it wasn't just her part of the kingdom that was seeing the same kind of peace. Odette hopped that things could stay peaceful for a every long time to come, but that didn't seem possible just yet. At least for now they could take in the comfort that things weren't going crazy just yet. With a sigh she would run her hands throw her long hair and shrug.
"What else is on your mind Eric?" How's Ariel doing?" Odette would ask, seeing that their meeting wouldn't last that much longer. She knew that she'd need to get back to the castle and tell Sig what was going on.
