And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Lily looked out the carriage window, as it continued to drive on the roads leading through the lush forests of the Seventh Kingdom. Having spent most of her life in the First Kingdom, filled with its grassy hills and small cities, Lily had to admit seeing forest like this for the first time was amazing. Every chance she got, she found herself peering out of the carriage window. There were so many things she planned to see during her visit her. She had heard the Swan Lake was supposed to be quite beautiful, no matter what time of the year you see it. That is if her older sisters would allow her to go see it.
She wasn’t even supposed to be here in the first place. Originally her sisters Beatrice, Helen, and Katherine had been asked to go on this goodwill diplomatic mission to the Seventh Kingdom. Something that some of the other Kingdoms had started doing, as a means to try to unite politics between the still friendly remaining eight kingdoms. However Helen had caught a cold and with Ashlee and her husband visiting her husband’s family, and Caitlin, Desiree, Evelyn going to a friend’s wedding, while Faline, Georgina, and Jacqueline had been invited to the Grand City for a big ball. Her father, the Duke had no choice but to send Lily to be Helen’s replacement. It had taken Lily quite a bit of convincing to let her father do this. But here she was, away from home for the first time, and she was loving every minute of it.
Lily looked at Beatrice and Katherine, who were both fast asleep across from her. How could they be sleeping at a moment like this? The Driver had stopped the carriage a while ago to tell then they would soon arrive at their destination. She was so looking forward to who would be a part of the welcoming party. That part of the letter her father had received had been quite vague. She hoped it wouldn’t be boring old men.
Finally the carriage stopped and Lily jumped onto her two older sisters in order to wake them up. ”Beatrice and Katherine wake up! We’re finally here.” The youngest sister smiled as her older sister’s groggily opened their eyes, as Lily waited for the coachmen to open the carriage. As the youngest she would get to exit the coach first. Finally the doors were opened and one of the coachmen extended his hand to Lily. She was so excited for what fate had in store. Odette would wait for the visitor to arrive at the castle. There wasn't to much that she knew about these people that were stopping by. All that she really knew was that they were noble and Sig felt that it was only right to see what they had to say. However it wasn't like she would just turn the people away, she was a more social person then that. Taking in deep breath, she would look down from where she was sitting at the grand garden. It was such a pretty thing to see on the grounds of her home. In the summer and spring she truly enjoyed walking around there.
As much as she tried, the thoughts from the grand noble meeting and the talk with Eric made her edgy. To think that there was a growing war in the near future was a scary thoughts. She hopped every day that that day wouldn't come. However like she had said to herself before, that was out of her hands. "My Grace." A young girls voice would call to her. Odette would turn and smile at the girl. "The visitors have arrived and waiting."
"Alright, thank you Rose." Odette would say as she would raise and work her way down to where the guest would be. It would take her a few minutes to get there. Once there, wearing a long green dress, long hair pulled back and curled, and her crown on top of her head. "Greetings Guests, I'm Queen Odette and welcome to the seventh kingdom."

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Once Lily had exited the coach, she patiently waited for Katherine and then Beatrice to exit the carriage, before she began to look at the group of people to meet them. Only there wasn’t a group, instead right in front of them stood a beautiful woman. Immediately Beatrice and Katherine curtseyed, causing the youngest sister to wonder why they had done it. She was too busy admiring the beauty of the women in front of her, she hadn’t noticed the crown resting on top of her head. She would’ve continued gaging if the women hadn’t introduced herself as the Kingdom’s Queen. Lily quickly followed her sister’s example and quickly slid into a graceful curtsey. Even though she no longer danced anymore, the way she had learned to curtsey in the underground fairy court, was one of the few things she choose to retain from her experiences there.
“Greetings your Majesty,” The three girls chorused, still remaining in the same position. Knowing they could only rise from their curtsey with the Queen’s permission. Lily watched as Beatrice and then Katherine introduced themselves, before the youngest of the sisters had her chance. She had to admit she was a bit nervous to speak to Queen Odette, not that she had never spoken to a Queen before. She had met and conversed with Queen Cinderella quite a few times in the past. However this was her first time being in a foreign Kingdom. She didn’t want to screw up. “I’m Lady Lily, the youngest daughter of Duke Gardener, it is an honor to be here. May I say you Kingdom is so pretty. It’s so different from the grassy fields back home.” Once done speaking, Lily looked at bother her elder sisters who gave her nods of approval. Lily felt herself relax.
As Lily waited for the Queen to respond to her introduction, Lily found herself wondering wait her stay here would be like. She hoped it wouldn’t involve much dancing. The citizens of the first Kingdom understood why she wouldn’t dance, but foreigners always found it kind of weird, especially now since she was in a foreign kingdom. At least she wasn’t in the Fourth and Fifth Kingdoms, they were known for big parties. Her eleven older sisters had even been invited to a few. Perhaps if they had a ball she would sneak out to the Swan Lake instead. That is if she could actually escape her over protective sisters. She knew she probably had no chance there. "You may raise girls." Odette would say as they were all done speaking and introducing themselves. They were bright and respectable girls and their father ought to be proud of them. It wasn't that often that Odette would have nobles coming all this way just to speak to her. Not only that but it wasn't the duke who came but his daughters. That made Odette interested in why they were visiting. In turn she would smile at each of the girl but would hold her gaze on the youngest. "Thank you Lily," She would say to the young girl. "So you three must be from the first kingdom I take it?" Odette would generally ask, based off of the comment that Lily made.
"So if the three of you are ready, you can fallow me." Saying this she would turn and start to slowly walk into the castle. She didn't turn to look back just yet to see if they were fallowing, tho she figured that they were. Going throw the front doors Odette would lead the girls into the library. Once there, she told the girl that they could have a seat while she would ask a maid to bring them tea.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Lily immediately rose as soon as the Queen had told her so. Anybody young lady would agree with her, that spending an extended time in a curtsey is quite uncomfortable. At least she didn’t have to do it wearing one of her heavy ball gowns. When Queen Odette replied to her, Lily was impressed that the Queen was familiar with her homeland. “Yes your Majesty, have you been there before?” she asked. “I just love the plains in our Kingdom, especially in the spring and summer when all the wild flowers appear. I love run through them and then lie in the grass forever, until one of my 11 sisters finds me.” She probably would have continued on, if Beatrice hadn’t given her that look. “Not that the Seventh Kingdom isn’t lovely, with its forests and of course the Swan Lake.”
Once she had finished babbling on, Lily listened as Queen Odette invited them into her castle. Lily fell in line after Katherine while Beatrice took the lead. As the Queen led them through the castle, Lily couldn’t help but admire the suits of armor, the tapestries, and everything else which was different from the palace back home. In fact, Lily was so immersed in the world around her; she almost missed the entrance to the library. Lily couldn’t help but blush as finally entered the room and sat down. Watching as her older sisters talked to the Queen about coming for diplomacy and hoping to keep the piece throughout the remaining eight kingdoms.
Lily sipped her tea as her sisters rattled on and on. It was getting really boring. She wanted to explore the Kingdom, not be cooped up inside it. She wanted to see the lake and the merpeople. It must be so cool to live under the sea, she thought. She had always heard of stories about them, but she was way too far away. Now she actually had a chance to find out about them and she wasn’t wasting her chance. “Your Majesty,” she found herself speaking when her sisters paused, “What are the merpeople like. As Queen of the Seventh Kingdom, you’ve met them right? I always wanted to meet a mermaid.”
Once Lily finished talking, she looked at her two older sisters disappointed faces; after all they were supposed to be talking about diplomacy not merpeople. However, Lily didn’t care. It was her first time out of the First Kingdom; she might as well enjoy it. WORDS: 471 TAGS: ODETTE NOTES: NONE

She had watched the girls closely when they were still outside. It was interesting to see how the older girls acted vs the youngest. To Odette is seemed clear who had more practice with talking to a queen or king more. However she had found Lily's spirit cute and a delight to see. Odette's smile had widened as the girl corrected, what she could have thought was a mistake. "Yes I have been, and it is really pretty there as well." Now they were in the library and one of the maid had brought in there tea. Odette would sit at the end of the table so that she could have all the girls in her line of sights.
It was clear that the youngest was truly enthralled by what she was seeing around her. Seeing that brought an even brighter smile to the queen's face. Not to often did she bring young children into the library and see so much interest. It almost made Odette wonder what it would be like to have kids of her own. To have then running around the castle and causing a fuss with the maids if they broke something. She found a simple joy in that thought and wondered what Sig would think of her idea.
Odette was pulled out of her thoughts when Lily asked her about the mermaids. The question made her pause and think for a moment. In the short time that she's been queen, she hasn't seen a true mermaid in the water at least. The only thing closest to a mermaid that she'd been able to talk to was Prince Eric and Princess Ariel. But only in their human forms of course, she'd never seen them turn into mermaids when they go into the sea to meet the king there. "No," Odette would finally answer. "I haven't seen a mermaid in the water before. The closest mermaid that I've met are Prince Eric and Princess Ariel."

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are When Queen Odette told Lily, she had been to the First Kingdom and liked it there; she couldn’t help but feel immense pride for her homeland. After all, for most of her life, it was all she had known. However now that she was in the Seventh Kingdom, she planned to change that. She couldn’t wait to broaden her horizons. See new places, meet new people, maybe even have a small adventure or two. Though she knew Beatrice and Katherine would be watching her like hawk. She had yet to figure out how to escape being constantly watched by everyone. In fact, she feared it would never happen.
Later on, in the library, as Lily waited for the Queen’s answer, the Duke’s youngest daughter began to second guess the rashness she had acted on a few moments earlier. Her sisters had told her time and time again that she must only be seen and not heard, especially since she had so little experience with the other Kingdoms. But alas, her curiosity had gotten the best of her, though she knew that Beatrice would give her a scolding tonight after they finished supper. A least, I didn’t ask the Queen about being a Swan. Not that I would, I know what it’s like to be under a spell you can’t break free of, she thought to herself, before taking another sip of tea.
When Lily heard Queen Odette’s answer, she couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed. She wanted to see a real Mermaid. She was sure the look of disappointment was clear on her face, the rumors that the merpeople being quite shy were quite true. “Oh,” She began. “I’ve heard that Prince Eric and Princess Ariel are able to go between the land and sea at will. It must be quite amazing to be able to be part of two different worlds. I bet the stories about under the sea are amazing.” Even though, she couldn’t see a mermaid, at least hearing about them from someone who knew a mermaid, would be better than the crazy tale tails she heard back home.
Lily found herself pausing for a second before adding. “Is there any chance my sisters and I might be able to see the Swan Lake. I heard it remains quite beautiful throughout the year.” WORDS: 387 TAGS: ODETTE NOTES: NONE

The queen thought about what it could be like under the sea. To be under there long enough to see everything. However she and Sig have only dived under the sea a few times and only got a glimpse of the kingdom. However Odette didn't really feel the some wonder that Lily seemed to have about the sea kingdom. From the drawing, stories and what Eric has told her about it, there was no doubt that it was a beautiful place. She also enjoyed the shells and things that come from the sea but liked being on land more. Her kingdom is such a pretty place, so full of life in some parts. Everyone here was friendly, kind and loved working together. It was a great feeling as a queen to see those things in her people
Odette then heard what Lily asked next of her and raised an eye brow. She wasn't upset about the question but was interested. Lily's sisters not near as this talkative or at least in the way that would ask, what could be called, inappropriate questions. For Odette Lily was doing nothing wrong and liked how curious she was. "We'll see." Odette would say finally with a soft smile.
