An aura of calmness enveloped the young woman. Today, her appearance was better than usual. She was outside of the Fourth Kingdom. The ladies had wanted her to walk around looking like some mere peasant who hadn't brushed a single strand of hair in all of her life. Her hair flowed down behind her and blew in the small breeze. Her dress was a lilac color that brought out that bright blue of her eyes. A cream-colored cloak was draped over her shoulders. Ophelia had traveled along with the royals and nobles of the Fourth Kingdom to the seventh. They were there for some reason that she hadn't bothered listening to. Oh, there were times when she knew what they spoke of but they just never noticed. They considered her completely mad but there were the moments where she lapsed into a complete understanding of the situation. [/style]She looked back near the castle where the ladies stood gossiping by. They were supposed to be watching her. She gave a tilt of her head and stared at them. Did they ever take their job seriously? She found that she thought of small, trivial questions these days. This was one of better days where she actually thought straight. Ophelia wandered to a little lake she saw. It was a truly beautiful one. The waters floated delicately along the bank. While the nobles ignored Ophelia for the past few days, she had wandered to the lake and watched the swans in it. She played with a small flower that she had picked by the lake and continued to watch the swans. They seemed so at peace unlike the war that was threatening to begin. Oh, yes, she knew about the dangers of the oncoming war. The nobles spoke carelessly in front of her, thinking that she was too insane to understand. They doubted that she would ever become sane again. There were times that she was sane and she heard the whispered words of the nobles. What was to become of her brother and their kingdom? So many things went unanswered. Ophelia was so lost in her thoughts that she did not notice the soft steps of a person coming her way. |
