Species: Human
Kingdom: n/a; earth
Occupation: art teacher
Playby: stevie nicks
Father: Chris Coventry (biological) Darren Starshine
Mother: Lillian Coventry (biological) Miriam Starshine (adoptive)
Siblings: Alexander Starshine, adoptive brother (older). Dianne Starshine, adoptive sister (younger), and Brett Starshine, adoptive brother (younger)
Other: Blake, long time best friend/crush. Kai, adoptive nephew and Coraline (adoptive niece) (she's their adoptive aunt).
Likes: Cats, art, romance, kids, vintage, playing piano/singing, writing, and baking.
Dislikes: dogs, swimming, yelling, being touched aggressively.
Strengths: kind hearted, good artist, comforting.
Weaknesses: is a pushover, isn't very assertive, horrible self esteem.
Personality: Lorene is a sweet heart. She's very submissive and is kind almost, and in certain situations, to a fault. She's got a "wifey" and "mommy" kind of personality. She loves to take care of people and to teach people, hence why she is a professor. Of course that can prove to be an issue because she is too nice to really enforce any kind of "power" of herself over anyone.
She get's walked on a lot, and doesn't do anything about it. She's just too passive and submissive. Lorene wouldn't ever dream of hurting someone physically or emotionally on purpose. She doesn't really hold grudges on people who do those things to her either.
She doesn't find herself attractive, she doesn't believe in her smarts, and she's just an emotional mess. She tries to not let her personal conflicts show when she speaks to friends and normally does a very good job of it, but she'll let slip about how lonely she is sometimes without meaning to.
She's one of those people who will do anything anyone tells her to do. Lorene's gotten into some poor situations because of her over-willingness to please people. She gets walked over a lot because of her mellow soul, and that just makes her less and less confident in herself by the day.
She's a good listener and giver of advice. Lorene will not hesitate to open her home to someone who needs a good cry, or someone to talk to, or if you're just hungry and want a meal. She'd hospitable and just a generally kind hearted woman, even if she is an eccentric character at times (or all the time, but who's keeping track).
When she gets irritated, though, she can get pretty sassy. She's not really mean, per say, but she can dish out the sarcastic comments if she really wants to. It's not often that people get to her, but when they do they'll probably see this side of her. Especially if she's stressed out. And she's got a good sense of humor, and laughs a lot, but Lorene is not comical at all. She's tried to be funny but people just laugh because the pun/joke was so bad.
Obviously she loves art, and she's very good at it too. Lorene is a cat lady, she loves to dance, she is a fan of old music (music she grew up with), she's romantic and is a sucker for chick flicks, and is a vegetarian.
She hates and is afraid of dogs, she doesn't deal well with people yelling at her, she's emotional, she is very self aware, she's afraid of water and her biggest fear is death by drowning. She was ice skating once when she was younger and got stuck in the ice, nearly drowning.
Eyes:chocolate brown
Hair:naturally brown, dyes it blonde.
Physique:Lorene is a very petite woman. She stands at a mere five foot one and when she's not pregnant, she's weighing in at about 105 pounds. She's got long, blonde hair and it's naturally curly, but she flat irons it all the time. She's thin, but has prominent hips and curves, making it seem like she'd be bigger than she really is. She's got brown eyes, and a gentle smile with dimples.
She has a very friendly vibe, and you can just tell she's very modest and reserved too. She likes to dress herself up a lot and wears lots of fashionable clothing. Almost always seen in boots or heels because she hates being so small.

History: Lorene was born on Halloween in 1977 to a very loving mother and father. She was their first and only child, and they cherished their daughter like a gem. Her parents had both been in the music industry, her father a lead guitarist/vocalist in an uprising rock and roll band, and her mother was a journalist that covered entertainment in the same industry. Needless to say Lori grew up around music and it's been a part of her life since the day she was born. Unfortunately, Lorene's father had to leave his band because his band was putting too much pressure on him to pick between time with them and time with his family. He gave up the life of fame for Lorene, and she admires her father for that to this day. Ironically, Lorene spent her time mostly with her father since her mother still kept her job, which kept a roof over their heads and food on the table. The Coventry's weren't rich, but weren't poor either. They were all a happy family and that's what mattered.
Once Lorene entered school, her parents discovered how truly brilliant their girl was. They didn't find as much amazement in her academic abilities in elementary school just because they thought it was just going to be easy for her until she progressed in school. But when the teacher approached the Coventry's about having Lorene skip the eighth grade and go into high school a year early, they knew they had a gifted child for sure. Not only had she inherited her father's music gene (she is a strong singer and plays the piano), but also a mind that was beyond what most kids her age had. Unfortunately that made young Lori-Belle a little socially awkward, being in high school so young. She was uncomfortable for most of her early freshman year, constantly being teased and picked on. She was far too kind and sweet to fight back, even though she probably should have. Lorene, actually was able to make some quick money during her high school years by charging people for her to either tutor them or do their papers/homework for them. It wasn't like she struggled with her own work, so she had plenty of spare time to help everyone else.
Let's talk about what Lorene did during her free time aside from the school books. She adored music. Her father, of course, had gotten her hooked on rock and roll and had vinyls playing constantly. She often noticed how her dad seemed to get a longing look in his eyes when they discussed the different bands of the time. She knew her father's band would have made it big. Lorene wished she could have found a way for her father to get what he wanted but he always reminded her that she was the most important thing to him and to never worry about her "ruining his career", as Lorene put it. How Lorene coped with the years of high school stress/social issues, she wrote songs. Her first, initial dream was to become a singer songwriter but always had a stronger love for paint, pens, and color.
Before she was out of high school, at 17, both of her parents were killed in a train wreck. They were riding home a short distance on a train because their car broke down, and the train ended up crashing because of a dysfunctional rail on the track. It fell over and killed most of the passengers, leaving Lorene to be adopted for one year by a close family friend. She enjoyed her time with her new family, and was grateful for their aid, but she will always miss her real parents, because she knew them for a much longer time and shared more of her life with them. Of course, she had to move to Long Island Sound where they lived, so she left Arizona.
As she got into college, Lorene realized that singing may not be for her. She noticed how incredibly nervous she got before performing and how she would even forget the lyrics to her own songs, or songs she had known for years when in front of a crowd. And it reminded her too much of her parents for her to not break down every time she sang. Plus all the other girls that sang had much stronger vocals and had more of a personality for show business than she did. In fact, she realized that she dreaded being in front of crowds at all! Singing at least, she didn't mind speaking in front of others. Lorene's other passion, and the one she found was stronger, was art. She had always been an incredible artist and very creative, so she wished to pursue that over singing. She continued to write her songs though, now finding it more of a release of stress and anxiety, which she was diagnosed with when she was 18. Lorene suffers from anxiety and OCD, so she's freakishly neat/organized and as most around her know, very brilliant. She, again, is pretty eccentric and is very awkward when first meeting someone. She hasn't ever had a long last relationship with a man and realizes it's because she's "weird." Naturally, Lorene wants to be married eventually but her clock is ticking so she is starting to feel hopeless in the aspect of her romantic life.
Once out of college with an Art degree, Lorene moved to Bullrose and landed a job as a professor like she had wanted at the high school located there. She's been working there for a few years now and loves it. She enjoys working with younger people who share the same passion she does.
Unfortunately Lorene's happy life took a detour through hell about six months ago. She was walking home from work like she usually does, since she lives only two blocks away. She normally walks home with another lady who lives in her same apartment complex, but that lady had to stay later so she figured she'd be alright walking home alone just once. It wasn't far, what could happen, right? Everything was fine until she saw a man lying on the ground, looking as if he had been hurt. Being the big, bleeding heart she is, Lorene rushed over to help him up, but it had turned out he was just drunk and had been dazed when he tripped moments before. She tried to put up a fight when he grabbed her but she wasn't going to do much damage to a man three times her size.
She woke up the next afternoon bruised up and raped in some alleyway behind her apartment. Lorene didn't remember the man's face due to the darkness, so she just reported a drunken rapist to the police so they could warn other women around that area. She went to the doctor the next week and found out she had conceived and was pregnant. There was no way in hell she was going to get an abortion, she didn't believe that the child should be punished for it's father's wrong doings, so she chose to keep it and will mother it, a baby boy she's now learned, lovingly and without regret. Of course for the first months after she was attacked, Lorene was out of touch with everything/one. She took a leave of absence from work even.
Now, six months later, she's pretty much acting like herself again. Lorene is just very sensitive when people touch on her. She doesn't mind hugs and touching if she's the one initiating contact, but if someone else initiates, she might shy away.

Role-play Example:
Lorene had been dealing with a lot of different business type work since she arrived in London. Of course, the second she thinks she can take a few weeks and go personally support the artists under her label without getting too far behind, everything starts happening. Some meeting she had been called to at last minute she had to partake on over phone last evening, therefor thwarting her plans of going out and having a nice dinner at some cute little cafe here in the foreign city.
She really did enjoy her job, though. Despite all of the business-like work she had to deal with (which she hadn't seen herself doing ten years ago), Lorene wouldn't trade it for the world. She got to travel and be a huge part of the musical scene like she had always wanted.
During her time in London, Lori hadn't bothered with the alarm clock. She normally woke up about six to get to work on time when she was back home, but adjusting to the time change and plus the fact she had no office to get to made it pointless to even try having a sleeping routine. Not that she stayed out past three in the morning or anything, but she was normally up, you guessed it, working.
She had decided to go grab some late breakfast at a little cafe she had seen on her jog the other day. Lorene had found it very cute and appealing so she made plans to go give it a try this morning. She had also planned on going to the tour grounds to watch some of the bands before going back to the hotel and checking up on things back in LA. Lorene was a fair woman when running a company, she thought, but she also knew she could be very meticulous. It probably got annoying to some, but she wanted this company to be run, and to be run correctly.
Her black top was made of a sheer fabric that waved in the wind and rain as she walked down the street under her umbrella. She wasn't trying to look particularly stunning or pretty today, just wearing her natural curls, some dark jeans and her boots to give her a little edge on height. Lorene was only five feet tall so any little heel on a shoe helped her not look like a kid in a large group of people. She made a turn and quickly opened the door to the cafe, the friendly interior greeting her along with the little bell tied to the door. She folded down her umbrella without too much of a scene. Lorene had never been very good at the "simple things" in life. Like making conversation. Or tying knots. Or folding umbrellas. She had a mind for the complicated situations, and it proved to be a road block on occasion.
She had placed her order of just tea, which she enjoyed back home as well, and a bagel. Lorene never was a big eater. She had to watch what she ate too. It's not like she was vegetarian by choice, meat just made her stomach very ill so she couldn't eat it. Just like certain wheat did. She supposed she was doing good being a vegetarian, though. She loved animals so any way to save them was a good deed in her eyes.
Of course her food was ready pretty quickly. She had waited literally thirty seconds for the kid behind the counter to hand her the pastry and her glass of tea. Lorene paid with her debit card, considering she didn't own any Euros. And, naturally, the second her food was in her hands she felt her cell phone vibrate inside her purse. With a little huff, she found the nearest table, one that was in front of a girl she had seen in one of the bands under her label before. She set her stuff down and dug through the purse she had that was almost as big as she was. Lorene was such a mom, she had all sorts of crap in there. She had band-aids, germ-x, lotion, a book, her planner, her cell, glasses, make up and all sorts of other handy-dandy items. She finally found her phone, and in an hurry to unlock the touch screen, she accidentally dropped the phone, the battery flying from the little machine. Hopefully the screen didn't crack and the person calling her would be willing to wait. With a light blush on her cheeks, Lori bent over to look for the battery that had slid over by the familiar girl she had seen earlier. Smiling apologetically, she picked up the part from by the woman's foot and said lightly, her scratchy Arizona dialect clear,
"I'm sorry, clumsy me!"
